Speaker Pelosi: Drop the issue with Rep. Joe Wilson. There is nothing to be gained from pursuing apologies, censure, reprimand, etc. A year from now, Rep. Joe Wilson will be in the fight of his life to keep his job in the House. That is sufficient.
While decorum may be important to you and the other 434 House members, at the end of the day, the American people really don’t care. It is more important that you demonstrate leadership for our business and forget about Rep. Wilson’s reprehensible behavior.
There is a lot to be gained from focusing on the People’s business; our business. Please focus the House and don’t let unnecessary distractions divert attention from where it needs to be.
